Zipline Tours

Last summer, Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) added a Zipline Tour to its on-mountain amenities. The guided tour includes five ziplines, and a series of suspension bridges. The Crested Butte Zipline Tour is available during the summer, fall and winter seasons. The Crested Butte Zipline Tour has been a resounding hit with resort guests, local residents and employees. A wet Pacific storm delivered widespread snow across the entire state of Colorado, with many ski areas reporting more than a foot of snow, including 17 inches at Crested Butte, 16 inches at Telluride and six to 10 inches at the resorts along the I-70 corridor.

Crested Butte’s Snow Betty report this morning: “Hit the fluffy white slopes this morning because we’ve gotten 4 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours! In the last two days, we’ve received 19 inches of snow and this entire weather event in the last week has dropped 37 inches of snow on the mountain. Our “deependable” base is 44″ at the top, 33″ at midway and is waiting for you to practice some powder turns! Our open terrain includes 78 trails on 553 acres, including 75 groomed trails and the Groomer’s Choice for Today, Upper Keystone- one of my favorite runs, by the way! New terrain opening up for the day includes Double Top Glades, Peonia, Silvanite and Topsy. Forecasters are calling for a 60% chance of snow tomorrow, and with our recent snow event, we’re feeling confident the pow will continue to rise.”

Delighted skiers and riders kicked off the 2010-2011 season at Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) this morning with whoops of delight and ear-to-ear grins. First chair was nabbed by four young ladies from Crested Butte Community School who skipped class in favor of first tracks on the first day of the season. CBMR opened with 10 inches of fresh, airy powder and a 31-inch base. Snow continues to fall steadily. The resort has received 27 inches of snow since Sunday and 82 inches thus far for the season. CBMR plans to open more terrain, as conditions permit, in time for the Thanksgiving weekend.

“This is the best opening we’ve seen in at least six years,” said Ken Stone, CBMR’s COO. “We have much to be thankful for today and with Mother Nature’s help our operations crews will have more terrain ready for holiday skiers and riders.”
